This poetry odyssey provides a path into the primal—mystical, miraculous, mysterious land of flowers. A shared ritual across human cultures, flowers are given at life’s milestones: celebrations, births, graduations, courtships, weddings, illnesses, and death.
The anthology includes 90 poems from 66 poets around the world, crowdsourced online during a global pandemic. Our process of selection was a feeling-based blind reading. The writers range from award-winning poets to those published for the first time.
Our anthology was born from simple beliefs: Flowers, if noticed, make people smile. Given flowers are from one heart to another. In a time when the world is tumultuous and technological advances are rapid, we wanted to create something tangible that deepened our connection to ourselves, each other, and the earth.
May you hear the flowers sing. They wait for us…

“WHEN FLOWERS SING is a symphonic collection of poems, an opera of the soul. I felt as if I were falling into its resplendency. I urge everyone to read it. Cast this book out to others to create a new flowering earth.” —Debra Magpie Earling author of The Lost Journals of Sacajewea and Perma Red
