WHEN
FLOWERS
SING
A POETRY ANTHOLOGY
Edited by Christina Isobel
Our anthology was born from simple beliefs: Flowers, if noticed, make people smile. Given flowers are from one heart to another. Poetry nourishes the soul, the heart, and the mind. In a time when the world is tumultuous and technological advances are rapid, we wanted to create something tangible that deepened our connection to ourselves, each other, and the earth.
May you hear the flowers sing. They wait for us.
“Each unique poem and page is presented with attention to detail, freedom of expression, good format, and evocative visual snapshots. As an integrated collection, it carries a depth of meaning.” –Indie Reader, 4.5/5 Stars
EVERYDAY MERMAID is a poetic, artistic deep dive into the ordinary. Colors, waves, ripples of sound in words and meaning. Experiences day-to-day visceral contact with nature and the body. Celebrates the feminine and kinship with all life.
“Deidre Scherer’s fabric work moves gracefully and elegantly throughout the book, weaving among Christina Isobel’s lovely haunting poems. Everyday Mermaid is a beautiful book as well as a beautiful object, whose rewards are revealed in both time and space.”
–Brian Selznick, author of The Invention of Hugo Cabret & Wonderstruck
Begin on a standing wave and follow the hints of the mermaid flowing into winter, spring, summer, fall, and winter. Experience the light and colors of the seasons as they shape insights, feelings, and epiphanies.
SKELETON WOMAN
a dance with the dark
A LYRIC PLAY
by Chistina O’Reilly Isobel
A Play. An ordinary woman picks up a fairy tale and literally gets pulled into the story. Skeleton Woman, Lady Death, Berchta, Sedna, Baba Yaga, Kali, Inana, appear in many cultures, but not in our own. They’re not necessarily the same figure, but they all grapple with loss, death, and the importance of letting go and going down into the depths of the inner world. But watch out, they are not ordinary friends...
